Duration: 60 minutes

I currently accept cash, e-transfers, and credit cards.


I am a social worker registered with the Manitoba College of Social Work to provide in-person, video and phone sessions as well as being registered in Ontario and Nova Scotia for video and phone sessions. Many insurance providers cover Registered Social Workers. I am also a registered provider with different insurance companies (Canada Life, Sunlife, Manulife, Blue Cross, Green Shield, Desjardins, MPI, and First Nations and Inuit Health). Please inquire with your insurance provider before your first session to make sure your plan covers MSW’s. Therapy provided by a registered social worker can also be claimed as a medical expense on your income tax return. 

Cancellation Policy

If you are unable to attend a session, please let me know as soon as possible via email (karenwilsoncounselling@gmail.com), text or call 204.818.1763  I understand some things may get in the way and life is busy; however if you do not cancel at least 48 hours in advance, you may be required to pay for the full session (emergencies excluded).

First appointment 

Being nervous and not knowing what to expect from therapy is very understandable.  Congratulate yourself for starting this journey. Everyone is different and has different struggles, concerns, life difficulties, and goals.  Before your initial session, I will email some initial paperwork for you to fill out and send back to me.  The initial session usually involves getting a little bit of information about you and why you are seeking therapy at this time. This session will also allow us to start to create a safe space and relationship. 

After the first session, throughout therapy sessions 

Throughout our time together we will continue to explore and connect to your experience and what is coming up for you. We will continue to work towards connecting to and healing these. I also know things happen in life that may change what you initially came to therapy for. Because of this, we will continue to check in and work on what feels most pertinent.  

How many session will I need

This varies from individual to individual and has a variety of factors to take into consideration. Some people will find a few weeks is sufficient others will continue for months and other will continue to see a therapist for years.
